Las Otras

is an exploration of space through the lens of female bodies and the biographies of five women. The performance delves into questions about the relationship between the body, the environment, and the audience. Through composing transformative and poetic landscapes, the five subjects explore their individual place within the group and the world around them.

Drawing inspiration from feminist thought and texts such as Feminist City by L. Kern and Invisible Women by C. Criado Perez, the piece becomes an ongoing research that examines female placemaking, disorientation, and the search for a unique voice within an established system.

Las Otras is an all-female piece for four dancers and a live musician. It is a thought-provoking exploration of the female experience and the ways in which women navigate and assert themselves in the world.

The piece is based on the research process a room for us which took place at the residency program from Tanz_Netzwerk_PROFESSIONAL, where we explored how to TAKE, MAKE and SHARE space, as individuals and in a group, through movement, sound, text, and video. We read together about slut-shaming, otherness and queer phenomenology, and using our own biographies and wishes as motor, we created speculative spaces to bring later on stage.
