rebonico is both, an étude and homage to Ball Pla, a folk dance from a region in the north of Valencia (Spain).

The piece analyses this ongoing tradition and its rituals, to abstract the essence and understand why it remains socially so celebrated.
Drawing on the personal experience of dancing Ball Pla in Sant Mateu, this project  looks into the origins and historical evolution of this popular dance, as well as the rhythm and the actual structure, to juxtapose it with contemporary movement and composition.

What does the body remember?
